Hi Roger,

This is a piece of crap.  Name one "liberal" who takes these positions except for the logical position taken by all those who study insurance: the larger the pool, the less risk, and the less cost to those who are insured.  I'm sure you are in favor of compulsory car insurance aren't you?  Even most conservative jurists believe that the individual health insurance mandate is not unconstitutional.

The conservative position on health insurance has made our system the most costly in the world and least effective improving national health.  I'm sure that everyone who like to get a job with health coverage but they are getting more and more difficult to find, or the premiums are outrageously high.

Those nations who distribute wealth fairly are those countries who are tops in at least nine social and health issues, as well as producing prosperous economies.  Even when Ireland and Greece are included the budget deficits for those on the Euro are an average of 4.2 percent.  Taking Ireland, Greece, and Spain (whose banks loaned with abandon) out of the data, the EuroZone unemployment rate is about 6 percent.  Distributing the wealth Germany created jobs all throughout the Great Recession and the fastest growing economy in Europe is Sweden, the most wealth distributing nation in the world.  The conservative/ libertarian position, as I have argued for years, simply is not based on economic, social, and health facts.

By the way, I believe in meritocracy.  I earned by 3.88 at Oregon State and I earned my full professorship at UI.  The egalitarian position is not that everyone should earn the same salary regardless; rather, it is the position that those who do succeed have an obligation to help those, who for reasons usually beyond their control, cannot.

You yourself believe that Veterans should get government aid, but how about single moms and those who suffer illnesses or accidents from which they obviously were not responsible?
