Another way to look at this:

This could very esily become a community-oriented, entrepreneurial 
opportunity for a whole bunch of between-semester students (think junior 
high or high school).

This is a win-win suggestion.

The kids earn some extra money and the sidewalks get cleared.

I'm only surprised that mobody else tought of it.
