At Janesta Sullivan's request...
Here is a little more information on Nancy Casey's gardening project in
Haiti. Nancy is a Moscow resident who is on her way back to Haiti soon
to build cisterns and help establish gardens in an area that has been
de-forested.
If you have a September issue of the Moscow Food Co-op newsletter, look

Sagin Time
Sagin' Time is a five-piece folk/rock band formed in Moscow, Idaho, in
1992. The band has produced and released a CD, "Taste of Life Itself."
The band shares its uniquely upbeat and danceable sound at festivals,
concerts, and private parties throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Sagin' Time mixes celebration music from around the world to form a
positive and inclusive sound they call, "Dance-adelic Rainbow Rock."
The band is proud to attract a diverse audience to their performances,
bringing little children as well as adults to the dance floor. With the
unusual addition of flute and hand percussion to guitars, keyboards and
drum set, the result is a rich sound that appeals to people of diverse
ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Building on their bouncing beat, the band adds positive lyrical messages
of harmony and hope. The result is music they call "good for both ends
of your spine."
Sagin' Time has played at public festivals and outdoor concerts in the
Inland Northwest region, as well as for private venues like weddings and
parties. Their multi-generational and multi-cultural music is ideal for
the stage at any festive event.
Sagin' Time is the band to get the audience dancing and smiling!
Meet the band:
Sharon Cousins provides vocals and plays flute for Sagin' Time. Her
fascination with the flute has continued from age 10, except for a
temporary shift to guitar in her teens. Sharon and her husband, Joshua
Yeidel, moved to the Palouse region near Moscow, Idaho, in 1976, and
formed the nucleus of several local folk-rock bands,
Sun-on-the-Mountain, Jasper, and We Here Now. In 1992, they started
Sagin' Time and continue to compose all the band's original songs.
Joshua Yeidel plays guitar, keyboards, and sings. His lifelong interest
in music and singing inspired his mother to buy Joshua his first guitar
at age 13. He also learned to play keyboards and played with numerous
bands and as a solo street musician throughout his early adulthood. In
December of 1971, he met his future wife, Sharon Cousins, when they both
played guitar on the streets of San Fransisco. Joshua is a self-taught
computer worker, now employed as an Information Systems Manager at
Washington State University.
LuAnn Scott is the bass guitarist. Her involvement in music began with
piano lessons as at age 6 and later included playing clarinet, bass
horn, snare drum, organ, and guitar. Twenty years ago, she traded her
acoustic guitar for an electric bass guitar. On bass, she jammed with
friends, playing folk, rock and punk tunes. In 1992, she joined her
first band, Sagin' Time. LuAnn is a molecular biologist and manages a
research laboratory at the University of Idaho.
Michelle Ward plays lead guitar. Her parents recognized her musical
talents, encouraged Michelle to sample a variety of instruments, and
bought her a guitar when she was in the fifth grade. She played in bands
and jazz combos through her high school and college years, including
local groups Aurora, an all-woman folk-rock band, Con Brio!, a classical
guitar duo, and the early music group The Carliol Consort. Michelle
graduated from the University of Idaho in 1988 with a bachelor's degree
and in 1991 with a master's degree, both in guitar performance. She
established GTR Guitar Studio in 1993 where she teaches guitar and music
theory. She joined Sagin' Time in 1992.
Liz Foster is Sagin' Time's drummer. After trying many different
