*MOSCOW * – The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) is battling a wildfire that
started Monday, August 30 around 1:30 p.m. near the Idler’s Rest recreation
area three miles north of Moscow. Approximately 20 to 40 structures are
threatened at this time and 2 have been lost. The fire was last reported
nine hours ago as 150 acres, actively growing with no containment.

“Go” evacuations have been ordered by the Latah County Sheriff's Office for
Idler’s Rest Road, West Twin Road, and Moscow Mountain Road, and all
properties north of 3830 Mountain View Road. The Latah County Sheriffs
Office urges everyone to evacuate the area immediately.

Those displaced by the fire or affected are encouraged to go to the Latah
County Fairgrounds where the Red Cross is available to help.

Moving forward, the plan is to transition to a Type 3 Incident Management
Team on 8/31/21 at 6:00 p.m. The Incident Commander wants to thank the
rural resources that came to help early on.
