Almost November 
in a year we'll remember 
for an endless election 
and COViD in high gear 
 
Almost forgotten 
in an economy gone rotten 
the cost of isolation 
and mostly the television to hear 
 
Almost persuaded 
this world has been fated 
to live in new dark ages 
where truth and science lose to fear 
 
Almost elated 
my space is no longer invaded 
by door-to-door salesman 
who I really do not care to hear 
 
Almost inhuman 
kids not getting much schoolin’ 
or time spent with classmates 
they once held to be dear 
 
Almost immobile 
except behind car’s wheel 
the long rides to nowhere 
having become my new career 
 
Almost self-medicated 
till I remember being sedated 
does not help one’s thinking 
become very clear 
 
Almost gave up 
thinking there’s reason to wake up 
to more non-stop repetition 
in this longest of all years
