Woman in custody after attacking Moscow Dutch Bros. staff

A woman is in Latah County Jail after allegedly trying to steal a cellphone from a Dutch Bros. coffee shop employee just before 2 a.m. Friday on North Main Street in Moscow.

Whitney Morgan King, 21, of Moscow is being held on a $5,000 bond and is charged with grand theft, assault and battery.

King allegedly told the Dutch Brothers employee that someone was after her and asked to use the business's phone to call police. The employee took out her own cellphone and, while she was dialing 911, King allegedly put her in a choke hold and took her phone.

Officers responded and located King, who then allegedly punched an officer several times in the chest before being arrested.

Moscow Police Department reported that King was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
