[Vision2020] Shokoto African Music and Dance Ensemble at the UI Auditorium

Festival Dance and the UI Black History Month Committee are cooperating to bring to UI campus the Shokoto African Music and Dance Ensemble for a public performance on Saturday, Feb. 13, 7:30pm at the UI Auditorium. Tickets are available at Paradise Ridge CD's, the Festival Dance Office at 883-3267, and at the door. Prices: $16 general; $14 students (UI Students free,) and $10 for age 16 and under.

Led by international touring musician and dancer, Okaidja Afroso, the ensemble takes the audience on a spiritual and artistic journey  through the African Diaspora starting in Ghana, through Brazil, Cuba, Peru and the Americas. Exultant compositions, unique instrumentation, soulful vocals and energetic dancing combine to crease a truly unforgettable experience.
