previously thought
Further mapping of the Snake River Fire shows a much larger blaze than previously thought.  Local managers of the fire are now estimating that about 65 hundred acres have burned in Southern Whitman County.  Volunteers from all over the county and into Idaho were able to hold the Eastern flank of the fire pretty well overnight.  The fire did flare up into some standing grain at the top of Wawawai Canyon above the Snake River.  No homes have been damaged.  There are no injuries.   One outbuilding was lost.  The fire is zero percent contained.  The fire is being turned over to a Washington State incident command team Wednesday as part of a state mobilization that was granted Tuesday night.  The effort will include strike teams, hand crews and attack aircraft.  That team will also manage and fight the Garfield County side of the blaze.
