It matters!  As long as they, you know, 'those people' are treated like second class citizens it makes a difference.  Once all these misguided same sex marriage bans are struck down nationwide, then you guys will have a valid point.

And another thing, I'm guessing you both would be a little bit bewildered if you didn't know she was gay and thus you were trying to hit on her in a bar and she was looking at you like your were some weirdo.

I'd like to echo this sentiment.  It shouldn't matter.  It reminds of the "first black female 42 year-old tuba playing astronaut with buck teeth" crap you'd get from NASA every time a shuttle launched.  We shouldn't care anymore.  That's the damn point.
