Wayne,

Why is this a big issue for you? It might be an issue for those living in in the southernmost parts of states bordering Mexico since they're the ones closest to the action, but beyond them what specifically is the crisis (what is the economic impact? etc.)

Here's my comments on your questions to Shirley:

<Where specifically do you stand on the immigration policy, particularly
in regards to closing the border and deporting those who have entered
the US illegally? >
I'd need to see the cost / benefit analysis on this. Can you point me to one?

<Do you favor making illegal entry into the US a felony?>
No. What would be the supposed upside for tagging someone with a felony just for illegal entry? I'd actually save the felonies to delineate serious offenses from those that don't directly cause harm to someone else.

<Do you favor a life-time ban on entry or possible citizenship for those who have broken the current immigration laws?>
No. I think this is an extreme measure that makes for bad law.

<What is your stand on employers/government agencies that circumvent / break the laws as to the employment of illegal aliens?>
They should be appropriately sanctioned.

Hi Shirley,
One of the big issues for me in the up coming election is the immigration crises we have today in the united States, and Scott in the post below, it listed the immigration policy as one of your concerns.Where specifically do you stand on the immigration policy, particularly in regards to closing the border and deporting those who have entered the US illegally? Do you favor making illegal entry into the US a felony? Do you favor a life-time ban on entry or possible citizenship for those who have broken the current immigration laws? What is your stand on employers/government agencies that circumvent / break the laws as to the employment of illegal aliens?

You write: 'We need economic policies that reward work...We need a health care policy, an immigration policy, an education policy, a veterans’ policy, a trade policy, and a tax policy that brings people together, builds the great American middle class, and looks to the future.

For starters, would you please elaborate on your viewpoint that 'we need economic policies that reward work'? Hopefully this can spark some civil dialogue in this forum.
