Current laws won't be enforced because neither party wants to enforce them.  Bleeding hearts don't want anyone deported due to the dilemma of human rights.  Hard cores want cheap labor to maximize profitability of business owners.

Personally, I think this is one of the few issues that the conservatives are right about and the liberals haven't thought through.  That said, there are a lot of dynamics at play here so I expect no further progress on this front and so labeled 'immigration' reform is now just a continuing political posturing exercise.

Scott,

I'm one of those folks out there, and there are a lot of us -even if they're not on VIS2020, that want the current laws enforced BEFORE any talk of "reform". 
The last go round of "immigration reform"  was a good idea and it said basically, amnesty for those here, but no more, this is the line in the sand. Now that that amnesty has already taken place, it's time for the government to live up to the "no more" part of that promise BEFORE we get to any kind of reforms.
