[Vision2020] And the beat goes on . . .

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to question your enthusiasm. It's just that I don't see an average of 83 posts a day from you on this subject, one for each event where someone dies due to the involvement of a firearm.
I'm tending to think of this in terms of reactions by authorities as akin to domestic terrorism. An event happens in a public venue and it turns into what's known in professional circles as a "media shitstorm". We can either choose to react emotionally to these situations like we did as a country to 9/11, or we can take a deep look at the problem and see if there is a solution that we could put into place in concordance with the relative threat level of the event.
There is a real danger here, because authorities like events that give them an excuse to grab more power, with our "best interests" at heart. I don't wish to lose any more civil liberties because of someone's fear that I need to be more "secure".

Suddenly get
concerned about guns, Mr. Rumelhart???
I have been concerned about the inappropriate use
of guns longer than I have been retired from the Army.
I have voiced my concern several times right here on
the Viz.
As far as information is concerned, CNN
television is reporting one casualty (a TSA employee), 3-4
injured, suspect (and his assault rifle) has been
apprehended.
LAPD, LAX PD, and LA Fire Department are
currently conducting an investigation.

I'll never
understand this fascination with highly-publicized
shootings.
If today is an average day, and the averages for 2013
are in line with 2010, then 33 people will die today in the
US due to a firearm-related homicide, 49 will die in a
firearm-related suicide, and one will die due to an
unintentional shooting.
Yet it's these highly-publicized shootings that
cause people to suddenly get concerned about guns,
oftentimes long before any reliable information can be found
about what even happened, let alone any other related
information pertinent to the issue of guns in
America.
