Today's (May 22, 2013) Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports:

"Three Latah County school districts will receive increased funding after voters approved a multimillion dollar bond and two supplemental levies Tuesday night.
A total of 4,986 people filled out ballots for this election, comprising more than 25 percent of the total 19,911 registered voters in the county.
A 20-year, $10.8 million Moscow School District bond received approval after achieving 69 percent of the total vote. Unlike the levies on the ballot, the bond needed at least 67 percent of the vote to be approved. Superintendent Dale Kleinert, who will be retiring after this school year, said he was grateful for the work the district's staff put forth to educate the public about the bond.
'I'm just so proud that we're going to be able to provide the renovations that are so sorely needed for our students,' Kleinert said.
After months of public forums urging voters to approve the bond, the Moscow School District will now begin the process of renovating and upgrading facilities around the district. Some of these renovations include a roof replacement for Moscow High School and Moscow Middle School, boiler replacements for McDonald and Russell Elementary schools, bathroom renovations for the entire district and improvements to athletic facilities, including updated boys and girls locker rooms at the middle school. In addition, $1.5 million will help will fund the development of playfields at the Joseph Street property, where the district plans to potentially construct a school in the future.
There is a 45-day waiting period before the district can begin the projects, but Kleinert said the district will begin the renovations as soon as those 45 days conclude.
According to the district, the bond will cost taxpayers approximately 54 cents per $1,000 of taxable net market value during the 20-year period. The average Moscow homeowner pays about $979.54 per year for school taxes, and the bond will increase this by $72.63 per year, or $6.05 per month.
Administrators from around the district held numerous presentations educating community members about the bond, which is the first major bond passed since 1991."
