[Vision2020] FW: For those interested in the CUP - What's This Public Hearing About?

I think they should do the same thing that they did when the lot was a private lot for GTE employees. Whatever that was. I'm assuming the city charged GTE for the use of the lot. If they did, they might need to update their fees. If they didn't, then they shouldn't charge NSA either.

So they want a lot that just NSA folks can use BUT they want to be able to use the public lot, also. Kind of cake-and-eat-yours-too deal.

Jackson and the prior Mary Jane store location at 421 S. Jackson, for the New Saint Andrews College use. For reference for those that have been in the community awhile, the subject property was used as the GTE/Verizon employee parking lot about 12-15 years ago. The request does not include use of the public parking lot located on the east side of Jackson Street. The Conditional Use Permit is required as parking lots, public or private, are required to be open to the public as a by right permitted principal use within the Central Business District while Educational Institutions are a Conditionally Permitted Use. The application requests that the parking lot be reserved for use by NSA students, faculty and staff from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday-Friday, and open to the public after 5:00 PM and on
weekends. The hearing notice included the correct date, but stated the wrong day of the week, so it will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 7:00 PM and a corrected notice is being published, posted and mailed today to clarify the meeting date. The application and related materials are available for review in our office at 221 E. Second Street and will be posted on the City’s website by no later than 5:00 PM this Friday, July 26th.
