[Vision2020] [corrected] Hmmm . . .

The point I was trying to make (and the one you and hansen had to go out of your way to miss) is that different people react in different ways to different substances. If you are at all honest with yourself you would have to acknowledge that for every drunken lout you have ever encountered that wanted to belligerently challenge one and all there were likely two who wanted to wrap their arm around you and slur earnestly in your ear that that you were their bestest friend ever.

It is my understanding that much of the marijuana available in this day and age is several orders of magnitude more potent then what ever Mr. Hansen and yourself likely "experienced" back in the day. Effects of THC that you conveniently neglect to mention include anxiety, agitation, confusion, and paranoia. While I readily concede that the majority of potheads are relatively harmless fools concerned primarily with the location of their next bong hit and bag of Doritos, it is not unthinkable that a anxious and paranoid doper could present a danger to himself or others around him.

To make the broad blanket claim that alcohol is disabling and disruptive while marijuana is calming is absurd.

Apparently, we are not reading the same news reports.

Yes, Martin had traces of the active ingredient (THC) of marijuana in his system. The facts are not clear, but as far as can be determined, Zimmerman started following Martin, who in a phone call to his girl friend during the episode paints the picture of Zimmerman as the aggressor/pursuer. http://abcnews.go.com/US/trayvon-martin-arrest-now-abc-reveals-crucial-phone/story?id=15959017

Attempting to blame Martin for his own death based on traces of THC in his system is absurd, Calming does not mean passive; it does not mean being mentally deterred from self-defense or oblivious of threats from pursuing zealots.

THC is an analgesic and calming agent:

Bill Zimmerman, PhD, et al., former President, Americans For Medical Rights (AMR), noted in his 1998 book Is Marijuana The Right Medicine For You?:
"Before we describe what you should expect the first time you use marijuana, you should know that many patients report that marijuana used for medical purposes does not make them high at all. Patients fighting nausea, for instance, often need to take only a few puffs to deal with their nausea, and a few puffs may not be enough to produce any mental effects.

The sensation of being high is quite subtle. Typically, it differs slightly from one person to the next and from one experience to the next. There is often a sense of amusement and well-being (euphoria). There is a feeling of relaxation and calm. [...] People who are high seem to enjoy art, as well as the simple appearance of things, more profoundly than at other times. When marijuana produces effects like these, and the user is accustomed to the effects, it can be quite pleasurable, which helps explain why millions of people use marijuana solely for recreational purposes."

Google THC calm to attempt to educate yourself.

Maybe you should write a book: Locksmith Logic, it would be placed in the humor/comedy section and might be a best seller.

According to the autopsy report, wasn't Trayvon Martin under the "calming" influence of the chronic when he went all Chuck Liddell on George Zimmerman's noggin?

But Donovan, that would cost the beverage industries billions! A cheap, safer marijuana high would lower the income from more expensive alcohol purchases. It would also lower the need for law enforcement personnel to investigate and prosecute drunken drivers and disturbers/fighters.

Remember: Disabling, disruptiive alcohol high good! Calming marijuana high bad! Bad, bad dog!
