Board to vote on pay raise for BSU football coach
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Boise State University is requesting permission to increase head football coach Chris Petersen's base salary to $2 million next season.
The state Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting Wednesday to consider the request, which was detailed in documents posted online late Tuesday.
Petersen now has a 5-year contract that will pay him $1.6 million in 2012, with a $100,000 raise for each following year, through January 2016. According to the board, Boise State University has negotiated a new 5-year deal through January 2017.
The agreement would boost Petersen's base pay to $2 million during the 2012-2013 school year.
Petersen is 73-6 in six seasons as head coach for the Broncos.
