PRESS RELEASE
Moscow City Council to discuss Sanitation Rate Study
February 2, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) - The Moscow City Council will hold a workshop in the City Council Chambers at City Hall to discuss the findings of the recently completed Comprehensive Sanitation Rate Study on February 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The workshop is open to the public. The study identifies cost and revenue inequities that currently exist between different sanitation services and options available to enhance the equity between all sanitation services provided.
The Comprehensive Sanitation Rate Study was performed by the FCS Group who served as the primary consultant on the project. Additional work was performed on the project by CH2MHill serving as sub-consultant. City staff involved a citizen committee, representing different customer classes and the University of Idaho, to review the process and analyses performed by the consultants and provided valuable input and recommendations regarding the outcome.
The workshop will be facilitated by consultants Angie Sanchez Virnoche and Sergey Tarasov of FCS Group. At the workshop, a review of the rate study process and committee consensus on future rate structure will be presented to City Council, followed by discussion and questions.
The City of Moscow will also invite Latah County Commissioners and Mayors/representatives from the other outlying cities within Latah County, which hold sanitation service contracts with Moscow, to engage in the process.
