April 23, 2012 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow Tree Commission will be hosting the annual Arbor Day ceremony and tree planting at 12:30 pm, Friday, April 27, 2012 on Travois Way between the west end of the road and Blaine Street. The City's 19th Tree City USA Award will be acknowledged and presented by Robert Barkley, the Private Forestry Specialist from the Idaho Department of Lands, Ponderosa Office, Mayor Nancy Chaney will read the annual Arbor Day Proclamation, and the Moscow High School Environmental Club will provide an educational and fun skit regarding Arbor Day.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the ceremony and help plant the "Royal Raindrops" crab tree, as well as numerous other trees and shrubs that will be planted throughout the parkway area. The plantings are intended to assist in the beautification of the park and to create a "living screen" between Travois Way and Highway 8.
Those attending can take home a free Sugar Maple or Golden Raintree seedling courtesy of the Moscow Tree Commission. The event will go on rain or shine! Call Tom Grundin, Parks/Facilities Manager at 208-883-7098 for additional information.
