Moscow Parks & Recreation Commission Receives Awards
September 29, 2011 (Moscow, Idaho) - At the September 18-21, 2001 Annual Idaho Recreation and Parks Association Conference in Boise, the City of Moscow received three prestigious awards.
Parks and Recreation Commission member, Ted Kisha, received the 2011 Citation of Merit - Individual, award. This award honors significant contributions from an individual whose involvement has had a positive impact on parks and recreation at the state, regional, or national level. Mr. Kisha was instrumental in the planning of the Hamilton Community Garden, which was developed and opened for public gardening in May of this year.
The City of Moscow received the 2011 Outstanding Facility and Parks Award for the Hamilton Community Garden. This award is granted to governmental, private, institutional, or educational agencies directly involved in park, recreation, conservation, or tourism services. The purpose of the award is to emphasize and recognize outstanding and/or unique achievements in parks and recreation facility design and/or development in new construction or major rehabilitation projects.
Also received was the 2011 Outstanding Innovative Program Award for the Paradise Path Improvement Plan. This award is to recognize and encourage special efforts made by parks and recreation agencies, organizations or individuals who have provided outstanding recreation benefits to a community.
