OK, so when can we get high speed internet from anyone up here on Steakhouse Hill---without resorting to a dish? Will Frontier be investing in cell reception out this way? What about cable? Time Warner laid cable on our place after cutting down all our wind-break trees, and no benefit to us.....Thanks for nothing, Frontier and TimeWarner. And a real thanks to First Step, as we continue to get great service from them in a difficult area to serve. Our connection is still dial-up, they still have it, and they provide fine tech service when we need it. I have a hunch the Frontier "hype" is another way to justify a future rate hike.....

In response to the Daily News article: Frontier Communications to expand services Eleven communities surrounding area to gain access to high speed Internet Staff Report Posted on: Saturday, January 01, 2011
Dnews,
This is a curious statement. "The communities of Palouse, Fairfield, Garfield, Genesee, Latah, Oakesdale, Rockford, Rosalia, Tekoa, Thornton and Weippe will soon have access to high speed Internet."
ALL of these communities, except for Latah and Thornton, have had high speed Internet from First Step Internet and/or Elk River Cable for years (Palouse since 2001). First Step Internet already serves over 1100 households in these communities. It's great of Frontier to finally get around to investing in these communities, but to present it as something totally new, when it is really just "johnny come lately" is less than accurate. As opposed to a real news piece, this article reads like an advertisement for Frontier. Not that we mind too much. Frontier is one of our partners for our DSL service. But it would be great to have Dnews paint a bigger picture than what is spoon fed to you by them.
