[Vision2020] Tea Party’s War on America

Jay,
One of the things that no one seems to want to address is the "WHY" of
groups like the tea party. I look at it as a matter of absolute
frustration with EVERY level of government, not just the Feds.
Government as it is now in my opinion cannot be trusted at any level,
and I'm pretty sure that my opinion is shared by others throughout the
nation. Maybe it is just the perception of inept government,
and while perception may or may not be true, they are real, for
instance:
"The federal government gave away billions of dollars to bail out
corporate America", banks, big business etc, etc, where is the
tangible benefit to the taxpayers? In other words, where is MY bailout?
And now after dumping billions of dollars, the government say's there
is a debit crisis. Ok, lets go get the money back from those that were
bailed out! Simplistic, yes. True, I don't know. But is the
perception REAL, yes.
And then I looked into the FAA issues and read the story of the poor
folks in Bradford PA possibly having their municipal airport possibly
being closed and federal tax dollars cut off to them. The story then
goes on to lament how it's nearly 90 miles to Buffalo NY to catch
flights IF the airport is closed to commercial aviation. No mention
was made that Bradford is about 20 miles from the closest interstate!
So, they HAVE close access to an interstate highway, AND they want
federal dollars to maintain what appears to be a very underutilized
airport. So, basically they have an interstate AND a federally
subsidized airport. Would I personally trade the Moscow/Pullman
airport (the commercial side) for close access to an interstate, you
bet I would.
And it's not just at the federal level. As an example of a perception
at the local level. The city now owns the 1912 building. A lease/
contract was signed 5 years ago that contained a specific renewal
clause, take it or leave it.
Now, five years goes by and rather than either party using that
option, already agreed to five years ago, a "new" lease/contract is
agreed to without opening the lease/contract to the public under the
guise of a "renewal".
What would have been wrong with opening up the process so that the
city could in fact get other options rather than settling on an almost
half million dollar bill over the next five years exclusively with the
prior
leasee? It's a perception, not necessairly true, but the perception
is REAL.
THAT is how groups like the tea party take hold, one little
perception at a time.
