I dunno, Ron . . . I'm not aware of UI employees moving up to new positions
& then getting an extra quarter of a million dollars bonanza in wages or
benefits because the UI didn't correctly anticipate the costs of filling the
position, but I know of quite a few instances where the UI signed contracts
with for-profit companies that wound up costing much, much more than the
contracted amount.
Of course, just because I'm not aware of something doesn't mean it's never
happened J

? Inside hires don't really save money. The person moving up gets the salary
of the new position, and then their department has to hire a replacement.

Roger,
If there is a way to waste more money, UI will find it even if they have to
hire an administrator to contract a firm to outsource a private company to
select a board to appoint an exploratory committee to discover it.

The UI is real good at wasting money. They used hired a new Dean of the
Graduate School from outside. the interim Dean was just fine.
