"The whole family is united at tea, to which friends, acquaintances, and even strangers are invited."
Moreau de Saint-Méry, 1791
Those vacuous tea party fools, believing that the American tax payer can not continue to survive the continued growth in government spending. With our countries debt accruing at 4.14 billion dollars a day since 28 September 2007, surely a huge increase in health care spending, the enormous expense of cap & trade, continued ineffective stimulus spending, and an unprecedented increase in government payroll will be just the ticket to set our country on a path to prosperity and ongoing global prominence. Clearly the hicks would do better to pipe down, crack a cold one, and enjoy the blessings, like a 9.5% unemployment rate for instance, that the current administration is providing for them.

With tea having been a luxury reserved only for the well-heeled in colonial America, it seems to be an inappropriate moniker for such an enthusiastically "back to the people" movement (I respect true populism too much to use the term to describe them). Given the Tea Party's comical and grotesque mockery of "academics," "elitists," and "intellectuals," in addition to its hallmark vacuity when it comes to policy, I wonder if perhaps Mountain Dew or Keystone Lite would be a better beverage representation . . .
