What terrible news!
I saw Jim this summer at the summit of Paradise Point very early in the morning where he and a friend had bicycled. He looked fine considering the extreme medical travails he had suffered.
Jim contributed mightily to all non-motorized outdoors people in this area. Besides authoring a wonderful trails guide, he put much time and effort into building and maintaining trails and other similar projects. He always had a nice smile and was pleasant to work with and to talk to.
I hope some fitting memorial can be found, like officially naming one of his favorite trails after him.

I understand that Jim LaFortune died early this a.m. I am currently living out of the country and don't subscribe to any of the local papers, and I assume I won't be able to read a current obituary. At the risk of sounding morbid, would someone be willing to post the URL or the obit when it becomes available?
Thanks.
