[Vision2020] Skewed Priorities or Business as Usual?

Wayne,
That means Akey's first recruiting class is the 2007 class. Since they often (or usually) redshirt one season, they will be due to graduate in 2012.
Doesn't this mean that the student athletes we're discussing were recruited by Erickson and his predecessor?

Right, you just keep believing that..... READ the original article! Akey became the head coach in December, 2006.
"The APR measures classroom performance and is based on data collected over four years, in this case from the 2005-06 through 2008-09 years."

We are talking the 2007/2008 season and Coach Akey's 2008/2009 season!
Enough said.

Sorry Tom, THREE years isn't overnight.
And to blame Dennis Erickson for the academic failure of the U of I
football team is a real stretch. Not defending him, but he was here
from 1982-1985 and then for one season this century, 2006.
The bulk of the time that was considered by the NCAA was on Akey's
watch, not Erickson's.

Yes. EXACTLY!
The failure to meet academic standards during the 2008/2009 football
season was a subsequent result of Dennis Erickson's applied "Win at
ALL
costs" philosophy.
If an undisciplined child continues "unacceptable" behavior a year
after
being fostered out, is it the fault of the foster parents?
Correcting unacceptable behavior takes time, Mr. Price.
Coach Akey's immediate release of 20 student-athletes, when he first
assumed duties as head football coach, speaks loudly in his favor.
ok?
As a platoon sergeant, I often "inherited" some soldiers I refer to as
"problem children" into my platoon. Many of these problem children
evolved into model soldiers . . . after some rather extensive,
time-consuming "remedial training". These results did not happen over
night.

Clearly, YOU didn't see what years were considered......."2005-06
through 2008-09 years"
So, 2007, 2008, 2009, and you want to blame on the previous coach?
Get real.

Wayne Price blindly asks:
"First, why are we keeping a football coach that failed to meet the
minimum NCAA Academic Progress Rate?"
Coach Rob Akey's first season at UI was 2007. One of his first acts
was
as head football coach was to cut 20 student-athlete names from the
roster
for failure to meet team/school standards.
If you will remember correctly, it was Coach Akey's predecessor,
Dennis
Erickson, whose approach to football was philosophy was "Win at ALL
Costs,
regardless of academic or (sometimes) criminal records".
So, you see, Mr. Price . . .
The University of Idaho is no longer "keeping a football coach that
failed
to meet the minimum NCAA Academic Progress Rate".
