Ugly Bertie 'Britain's ugliest cat' finds new home on Merseyside
Ugly Bertie, Britain’s mangiest moggy, has found a new home.

As featured in Metro last week, pictures of the flea-bitten feline moved
Claire Hulse so much that she knew straight away he was the one for her.

‘I thought no one would want to take him home,’ she said.

‘I made a quick call to my boyfriend and he said I could have him if I
called the RSPCA.’

Miss Hulse, 30, is just waiting for Bertie to have another round of
vaccinations and is hoping to pick him up this weekend.

Her home on the Wirral in Merseyside has its own cat outhouse, and was
described by RSPCA staff as ‘cat heaven’ when staff inspected it before
authorising the handover.

Ugly Bertie, thought to be aged about eight, was found wandering around
Farnworth, Bolton, last week. His fur was full of fleas and so matted to
his body that he could hardly walk.

RSPCA deputy branch administrator Julie Ashcroft said: ‘I’m really pleased
he’s got a new home. His fur has started to grow back now, so he should
come on in leaps and bounds.’

She said they had been inundated with offers but were always looking for
people to provide homes for abandoned cats.
