[Vision2020] Conoco Phillips Drums on Highway 12

Dear Visionaries:

This is an urgent message from Borg Hendrickson, representing "The Rural People of Highway 12," asking you to help stop the first shipments, which are 30 foot diameter drums headed for the Conoco Phillips refinery in Billings.  The highway itself is only 22-23 feet wide.

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday afternoon Conoco Phillips presented its revised transport travel plan for the 4 drums now at the Port of Lewiston to Doral Hoff of ITD, Lewiston. That, of course, means that a permit could be issued any day. We have a standing FOIA request at ITD for a copy of the plan. We hope to have the plan soon.

ITD's Alan Frew earlier stated that Conoco Phillips had agreed to inform the public through newspaper announcements at least a week ahead of a coming shipment. 

Concrete pouring began on Arrow Bridge east of Lewiston Tuesday. It will take 3-4 days to complete the pouring, and then some curing time, perhaps another 2-3 days. Then the shipments could use the bridge.

ITD appears to believe that the public outcry against mega-load shipments is aimed only at the 207 Imperial Oil shipments planned to start in the fall and that the public does not oppose the 4 more immediately pending Conoco Phillips shipments. 

We need to let ITD know that we do oppose the CP shipments, which would be the first shipments in the attempt to turn the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway and Wild and Scenic River corridor into a permanent industrial mega-load truck route. To emphasize to ITD that many many people do oppose the Conoco Phillips shipments for which he is right now considering permits, we hope you will take the following ACTION TODAY:

PLEASE TAKE JUST FEW MINUTES TO SEND 3 EMAILS TO THE ADDRESS LINKS BELOW. Or, if you wish, combine them into 1 email.

In each email, copy/paste or type the following simple message or write your own brief message and type your name & email address at the bottom: 

NO PERMITS for Conoco Phillips shipments. 
They are the largest, heaviest shipments ever
planned for U.S.12 and, for multiple reasons, 
pose serious threats to the highway, the rivers
and the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway.
