Unsurprisingly, I disagree utterly.  The strict constructionist
philosophy has no heart.

 The Constitution refers to itelf as "the supreme Law of the land."
Resepct it insofar as you respect what the authors intended, filtered
through the gentlest interpretatation.  Adherence to the literal
wording leads to farce and inhumanity.
