Latah County commissioners oppose land-swap proposal

Latah County commissioners officially voiced their opposition to the
proposed Upper Lochsa Land Exchange on Wednesday.
The proposed Exchange would swap 28,000 acres of managed forest land in
the Clearwater National Forest for about 39,000 acres of logged-over land
owned by Western Pacific Timber in the upper reaches of the Lochsa region
in northeast Idaho. Western Pacific Timber would potentially use the land
as tree farms for logging.
Some of the Clearwater National Forest land that would be included in the
swap is in Latah County
