Whose memory needs a tune up?

A very small sample from the November '08 archive. Topics which any reasonable person would have to agree were timely, contained information that was pertinent to the discussion, and were not ad hominem attacks on any member of this forum.

Perhaps you could check with "bear." He apparently knows some brain mechanics in Spokane who could help you with your selective memory.

Yipes your memory is bad. You should get that checked!

My recollection is that at that time we were discussing OBL (at that time still BHO) and the upcoming election. Weather guy was providing, among other things, selected items of interest from a variety of sources, many of which you seemed to find uncomfortable but which were very much on topic. I'm not sure what "ad hominems" you might be referring to but if there's anything I've learned over the years on this list it's that you've precious little aversion to sacrificing accuracy for expediency and that you often mistake a view point you disagree with for an attack.

Right! I asked the same question when your friend was harrassing the V! Of course, at the time you seemed to think Dr. No's ad hominems were legit!

So why don't you explain for us the argument that matters in the post in question? That said, I still believe that the sad and lonely Bertha has the right to do what she does. Eventually she'll meet someone nice and her obsession with me will wayne.

Gary: Do you forget your defence of No Whetherman (hah, hah)? I think it was, Names don't matter, arguments do!

            My Dearest Bertha,

I get that you aren't interested in contributing to the discussion.

I get that you are not swayed by my suave good looks and worldly charm.

I get that my powerful intellect and rapier wit bounce off you seemingly unnoticed.

In fact, I am coming to believe that you imagine you don't really care for me at all. (wink, wink)

All of these things I can understand.

What I can't understand is why you are frightened of me.

The waifish Ms. Lund delights in spitting in my eye.

The diminutive Ms. Mix gleefully reads me the riot act.

The delicate Ms. Hovey never hesitates to point out my failings as she sees them.

And all of them do it over their very own real life names.

What could I have done to scare you into hiding?

Many of my most vocal critics on this forum have actually spoken with me face to face and emerged none the worse for wear.

What could I have done to cause you to cower so?

What horror could I have inflicted on you that leaves you with no recourse but to hurl pitifully weak epithets from the safe harbor of anonymity?

Or could it be that you simply yearn to be noticed?

              The village locksmith said:

"My goodness isn't the nascent little ambulance chaser cute when he gets all up on his hind legs and brays about how others should be ashamed?

The reason that I don't "defend torture" is because that I see no compelling need to. As I've said before, I do not believe that waterboarding is torture, I do not believe that the previous administration had a policy promoting the use of torture, and I don't think that your pretending to be the arbiter of all that is righteous, pure and holy necessitates my responding to every idle quack and query that's directed my way.

Now how's about you knock it off with the phony shame routine and save it for closing arguments in kiddy court alright?"

Before anyone criticizes the lonely locksmith over this only apparently puerile outburst, they need to understand the pressure he is under.

His business is so busy that he is constantly on edge. In fact, it is so busy that he may have to expand into the next door laundromat. As one of the area's leading entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial philosophers, he is to be cheered for his daring and incisive business acumen in these hard times.

He is our leader. Cut him some slack if he seems irrational and childish. He is going where few dare to go.
