[Vision2020] Moscow Tea Party

Gary,
I like the idea of less government, but over the past several months, the private sector has been hemorrhaging quite a large number of jobs which which in turn swells the ranks of those who are dependent on government. The period of 2006-2008 with a Republican President coupled with a Democratic Congress in my opinion was a toxic mix that resulted in this economic meltdown.
>From my viewpoint, it just looks like whoever has the White House often galvanizes the opposing party to sweep into power. FWIW, I don't think we're heading to Hell with either party. I just don't think there is ever going to be a 'one size, fits all' party that can simultaneously cater to both the urban blue crowd that in general wants more government services and the rural red crowd that can pretty much fend for themselves without much - if any - government involvement. As such, the political pendulum just keeps swinging from side to side and right now it's pegged to the liberal side and I suspect it will swing back to some sort of split balance in the 2010 mid-terms.
Until then, the situation is what it is with 100's of billions dollars being printed up and pumped into the economy. I can't see how it won't work in the near term to stimulate the economy. In the long term, however, I can't see how we won't wind up with inflation galore. And like those who know how to prosper in a falling stock market, those who know how to increase their wealth during heavy inflational periods with do just fine. The rest of us will feel the pain and then vote the current crop of bums out of office so that the newly elected ones will embark on their version of continuing to screw things up.

"do you really think the Republicans are so much better when they're in
power versus the Democrats?"
The difference is going to Hell in a hand basket vs. by
many multiple billions of dollars worth of high speed rail. With the Republicans
there is the hope and slim possibility of a change of course. To my mind, no
such hope exists for the democrat party at least the one we have now as led by
Pelosi, Reid, and BHO. When it comes to the "social issues" it becomes no
contest. Anti-abortion, pro second amendment, less government is better
government types will never be comfortable with our current crop of thieves and
marxists.

Gary,
I had no complaints about medicare part D.
It makes sense to me that older folks ought to have access to the medicine
that they need and would not otherwise be able to afford. I'd like that
same benefit to be in place when I'm in the same situation of needing meds but
not being able to afford them.
Also, do you really think the
Republicans are so much better when they're in power versus the
Democrats? It seems to me that either the economy just cyclicly tanks
big time roughly every 34 years (1930. 1974, and 2008) and /or this is due to
Republican rule. Since neither party is capable of containing the all
powerful spending lobbies, I don't think Republican 'borrow and spend' policy
is any better - and is in all likelihood worse - than Democrat 'tax and spend'
policy.
And why is that all the obvious and predictable trouble created
by Frank, Dodd, and Company can not be overturned and fixed once the
Republicans have consolidated power in all three branches of American
government from 2000-2006? Incompetence? Greed? Washington
DC Hookers? All of the above? What other explanation can there
be?
I'm no fan of the AIG bailout an the so-called 'retention' bonuses
of $750,000 and up for the AIG executives who ran that company into the
ground. This just again looks like more rewarding of incompentence and
greed.
Since both parties suck, the only other thing that keeps the
electorate voting for their pet party must be social policy. Basically
abortion and gay rights and few other corner case battle lines.
Still
just sitting back and watching all the fun,
-Scott

Why indeed! When GW lost his mind and implemented
medicare part D who complained? The same folks you might have seen at the 15
April protest. Who did you hear nary a peep from? democrats and liberals. When
the pathology got worse and the man started in with bail out fever, who
complained? The exact same people you would have had the pleasure of meeting
on NSA square on tax day. Who was conspicuously silent? The folks who created
the problem, Frank, Dodd, & Co. and the people who elected them. When our
current illustrious president was running for his most recent community
organizing position we heard quite a few promises about fiscal responsibility.
Now that he's in the cat bird seat what do we have? Spending that makes Bush
look like Ebenezer Scrooge. I think that I can safely say that no one at the
gathering felt the slightest bit of shame other than for the sorry direction
that the country seems to be headed in under our current leaders gross fiscal
mismanagement.

Anyone who was at this protest yet did not attend one protest about
Bush over the last eight years should be ashamed of him or
herself.
