Excellent post, Mr. Marcy.

I agree with you 100% that a covered pedestrian overpass would be the most 
efficient (and effective) option.

The overpass, for the sake of those pedestrians restricted to wheel chair 
access, could adopt something similar to . . .

As much as the various entities may not appreciate such a financial 
burden, the bottom line is that something MUST BE DONE.  A cheap, easy 
response has been to invest in more paint for the crosswalk.

Question:  What would the financial liability amount to in a wrongful 
death law suit?  I'm guessing that it would be more than the cost of a 
pedestrian overpass.

Another option that draw appeal is the Area Man's (Dan Carscallen) concept 
of extending one of the campus streets tom meet at the junction of Pullman 
road and Peterson Drive, thus converting it into a major intersection, 
complete with traffic lights.

Bottom Line:  Something has GOT TO BE DONE and soon.
