The following U.S. service member died while supporting combat operations in Iraq, confirmed by the Defense Department from October 17, 2008 through October 23, 2008:
 
Marine Lance Cpl. Stacy A. Dryden, 22, of North Canton, Ohio; assigned to 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California.
 
Army Pfc. Cody J. Eggleston, 21, of Eugene, Oregon; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
 
Air Force Staff Sgt. Brian P. Hause, 29, of Stoystown, Pennsylvania; assigned to the 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.
 
Army Spc. Deon L. Taylor, 30, of Bronx, New York; assigned to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, Syracuse, New York.
