China is not likely to "go away" for another several thousand years, Arnie.

You are right.  Wal-Mart is not the only retailer contracted to 
wholesalers who manufacture their goods in China.  I am guessing that most 
(if not all) retailers that will be opening their doors within the Hawkins 
motor mall (as I like to refer to it, considering its configuration) are 
contracted to those very same wholesalers.

The answer, then, is simple.

BUY LOCAL!

You know.  Like Joe and so many others have been suggesting for quite some 
time now.
