Well, I'll give you that.  From Terrot Reaveley Glover's book
"Herodotus".  Books for Libraries Press; New York. 1969.

"Although early Egyptologists regarded his chronicles of Egypt as a

writings have been challenged. His eyewitness accounts are thought of
as accurate, but the stories told to him are questioned.   Some
researchers think the people who told Herodotus information could have
just been humoring him with an interesting answer."

As you say "so far he's lived up to his name."

I believe there was a smudge on your glasses when you misread
SchwaFler (which is windbag) for SchwaLler (which is not).   The
closest might be schweller which would be a door or window sill

Moving on, nonsense is either der Blödsinn or die Flause; stupid talk
is quatsch reden; gasbag would be quasselstrippe.
