I figure that marijuana is fairly innocuous and the public campaign against
it has always been silly.

Having said that, I must add that the public focus should be on more
dangerous things, such as salmon, which I have found to be truly harmful. 

I smoked a salmon once some years back and couldn't stop coughing for
months.
