[Vision2020] An eye for a schwaller

Dr. Gier’s post on the Recon convention reminded me of
a critical point that everyone should remember
whenever you contemplate theonomists: Recons lack the
courage to live by the Mosaic law when it touches
their lives. Consider the following two examples.

Dr. Kenneth Gentry is a very well-known personality in
the Recon movement, standing right next to Gary North
and Rousas John Rushdoony for his influence on the
movement and the number of books he’s written. It’s
safe to say that Gentry was the number-one author for
Gary North’s Institute for Christian Economics (ICE)
and that he wrote THE book on postmillennialism — “He
Shall Have Dominion” — as well as several other books.
But for all of his accolades among the Recons, Kenny
has a well-kept secret. About four years ago he pled
guilty to one count of exposing himself, and, like
Sitler, he plea bargained down to one count because he
didn’t want to face all the witnesses in a trial for
the multiple counts they had against him. Apparently
Dr. Gentry had a bad habit of flashing his schwaller
at the girls. So Gentry, like Wilson, holds theonomic
law when it’s convenient, which is pretty much when it
applies to anyone but themselves.

Speaking of Sitler, little Stevie’s parents, Dave and
Roxy, were once high-profile members of Washington
state’s American Heritage Party, which is a political
wing of the theonomists. If you check their website,
you’ll notice their strong reliance Rushdoony in the
footnotes:

I call this to your attention because I can’t think of
two people more out of touch with their theology (or
with reality) than Dave and Roxanne Sitler. If any two
parents ever had cause to demand their child’s
execution, Dave and Roxy are those people. Yet at this
hour they are fighting to keep him free on probation,
as if it were his divine right, bestowed by Moses on
Mount Sinai.

So the next time you consider Recons, just remember
that these people advocate eye for eye and tooth for
tooth, as long as no one gouges their eyes or breaks
their teeth when their found in violation of Moses.
