Two quick observations before I can put this to rest.

First, it is interesting that the explanation that Paul came up with -- that he 
was out of toilet paper -- was so much better, so much more plausible than 
the lie that Craig eventually told it is not funny. But Craig had a month to 
think up his lie! What's up with that?

Second, I think that Donovan is wrong in suggesting that Idaho will not vote 
for a gay candidate. I think that most folks in Idaho like Craig and that if he 
were honest, they just might vote for him again. There was a time once when 
people thought that no one would vote for a Catholic for President and 
Kennedy proved them wrong. To suggest that someone wouldn't win an 
election because he/she is Catholic would be absurd by today's standards. I 
can imagine a day when folks will find it equally absurd to say the same thing 
about gays and lesbians.

Or am I now the one who is being naive?
