Sorority house fire in Moscow
Aug 2, 2007 07:06 AM PDT
MOSCOW, Idaho - Authorities confirm that a fire broke out over night at
a University of Idaho sorority house in Moscow. Moscow Fire Chief Ed
Button reports that fire crews responded to a fire at the Pi Beta Phi
house at about 11:45 last night. As they responded fire was shooting
from the structure at 507 W. Idaho Avenue and that they were forced into
a defensive attack mode by the fire.
The fire has caused extensive damage to the structure with estimates
reaching into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Fire officials
report that the entire roof has been damaged but the structure remains
partially intact.
Early reports say that a ceiling fan may be to blame for the fire.
Luckily there were injuries in the fire because the structure was mostly
empty due to summer break. Typically the building would house between 60
and 70 women.
KHQ has a crew on the way to the scene to bring you more information.
