This is exactly the point, Kerry. First, there is not just one religious text to which the people of our country adher. Second, even if there were, it is doubtful that all of us would interpret the text in the same way. Ergo, religious texts are not the proper basis for questions of law. The law should concern clear harms to clear persons and nothing else.
