JOIN FRIENDS OLD AND NEW FOR MOSCOW FOOD CO-OP’S FIRST EVER COMMUNITY DINNER

Talking with friends and eating delicious food are two of life’s greatest pleasures. Beginning July 20th, the Co-op is providing a special venue to enjoy them, with its first ever Community Dinner.
Fourteen places will be set at one big table decorated with candles and local flowers, and a four-course gourmet meal served family-style.
Anyone can attend, but attendance is limited to 14, reservations are required, and the meal must be paid for in advance. The cost is $24 per person, with wine sold separately by the glass. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. The chef for July’s dinner is Co-op deli supervisor Nikki Woodland.
The July menu includes: 
Grilled Flatbread with Organic Tomatoes, Fresh Organic Basil, and Fresh Whole Milk Mozzarella; Caesar Salad with House-Made Dressing, Fresh Parmesan Cheese, Croutons, Organic Roma Tomatoes and Pancetta; Herb Coated Tuna Fillet served over Caponata and drizzled with Lemon Crème Fraiche; Roasted Organic Potatoes with Fresh Rosemary and Garlic; and Rustic Strawberry Rhubarb Tart with Chambord Whipped Cream.
“These dinners are a chance for people to meet others in the community or just have more time to sit and chat with people that you see in passing but don’t know that well,” said Amy Richard, Co-op kitchen manager. “And it’s also an opportunity for our cooks to really show off.”
The Co-op plans to have two community dinners each month. August dinners are scheduled for Thursday, August 10, and Thursday, August 24. Menus will be posted at the store, and Richard plans to start an email list for people who would like to receive the menus as they are announced.
July’s dinner theme is simply “community.” But Richard has lots of ideas for future community dinner themes.
“I am hoping to feature a local farmer’s harvest at a dinner and hopefully the grower can join us for the meal. I also think it would be great to try out different food themes, or different guest groups, such as people who are interested in gardening, or knitting, or writing, or whatever,” Richard said. “Anyone can participate, and that’s the beauty, excitement, and fun of it.”
