[Vision2020] Mark the Timber Beast

Reading the commentary that suggested that Mark Soloman was an evile 
exploiter of the earth, a driver of bulldozers bent on destruction of the 
forest was really a screaming hoot.  Hey Mark, welcome to the club.  No 
matter what resource related activity you do, no matter that the activity is 
actually something that is beneficial and will aid in gaining a true return 
of the forest type that greeted the white man when he first arrived, the 
fact that you drove the trees you cut down to a mill makes you an Earth 
Raper in some people’s eyes.  And in the example given, the blame was not 
even for something you had done, but that of another party.

Its part of the process of demonization I have mentioned with respect to 
miners at play on this one as well.  All of Mark’s work on sound 
environmental management gets tossed out the window as secondary to the fact 
that he is using logging as a means of reducing tree density, though the 
primary reason he is carrying out that prescription is to allow later stage 
trees to develop.  The life time of a saint brought low because he is now 
chopping down a few trees and selling them. . .

We have to get away from this warfare mentality, its making the world a 
sillier place than even I can handle.
