Barbara, LEDC, et all,

Two comments:

1. Although it is stated that there are 22 positions on the LEDC board, it appears by your listing that only 17 of these are filled.

2. The method of having the board (or any board) elect its own members is incestuous, self-serving, and most often counter-productive. The likelihood that a board will elect members who are basically in sync with the sitting members prevents new ideas from being presented and will lead eventually to a monolithic board (if that hasn't already happened). The is a well-known phenomenon, see The Human Animal by Weston Labarre for an older but clear exegesis.

We still haven't heard the results of the recent, so-called election. I know of two very well qualified persons who applied. They haven't heard either. This does not reflect well on the board nor is it likely to raise community support and enthusiasm for the board.
