Tom,

Like I said I have no qualms with your statement that he was a hero.  It
takes a very patriotic, and special person to do what he did.  I apologize
for seeming to argue this point, I was just very frustrated by the fact that
the media went crazy over a professional athlete that "characterizes a hero"
(I can't remember where I heard that but it was some talking head on the
news this weekend) simply because of who he was.  Yes lets mourn the loss of
Pat Tillman, lets say he was a hero but please mention those that gave up a
job flipping burgers at the local burger king as well.  I have friends in
both Iraq and Afghanistan that are heroes to me and they didn't even play
high school football.  That's all I am trying to say.

of them for over 20 years.

I was not looking at Pat Tillman as a hero because he is a professional
football player.  Sometimes I like to measure my heroes by what they forfeit
in
pursuit of a greater good.  As I mentioned in my posting,  Pat Tillman gave
up
multi-millions and an extremely comfortable life style for what he
considered
to be a greater good.  Do you realize that he had just returned from his
honeymoon when he enlisted?
