I must weigh in against Morris Dees and the Southern Poverty Law Center. =
Despite the high aims of their fundraising literature to stop racial =
discrimination and various civil rights violations, the reality is much =
more as quoted in the Harper's Magazine article, than as set forth in =
the SPLC literature. =20

Dees and the SPLC are remarkable fundraisers, but they are doing =
precious little to live up to the high aims contained in their =
literature. In short, they are indeed capitalizing on those well =
intended suckers who send them money. The SPLC just keeps amassing the =
money for ever more luxuriant digs for Morris, or worse, just saving it =
in an account and accumulating wealth rather than spending it on the =
fight for civil rights -- the pretext with which SPLC got the money in =
the first place. Morris Dees and the SPLC are NOT using much of the =
money they collect to fight the good fight on behalf of the oppressed =
and impoverished in the South.

I have talked about the SPLC with Millard Farmer, quoted in the Harper's =
article and not to be confused with Millard Fuller of Habitat for =
humanity fame. I know Steve Bright, also quoted in the Harper's =
article. At least once a year I attend seminars with Farmer and/or =
Bright. I revere both as true civil rights advocates who have =
tirelessly fought for the lives of death row inmates in the deep South =
and against the racial discrimination that put so many of those inmates =
on death row in the first place. You can believe them and should =
re-read the Harper's article, knowing that they are dedicated, honest =
men, who have forsaken the riches their talent could give them, to spend =
their lives in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida fighting the =
battle that Morris Dees only pretends to fight.

Morris Dees couldn't carry their bags and deserves none of your money. =
Morris Dees could do something about the huge number of inmates on death =
row in Alabama who do not even have a lawyer. He chooses to do nothing =
-- except to build a bigger castle, and occasionally to pick a good =
fight for "Public Relations" purposes to fund the SPLC money machine.

In my humble opinion, Morris Dees is a fraud and the SPLC with it. They =
may track "hate groups" and they may fight the occasional =
well-publicized lawsuit, but mostly they accumulate money for posh =
living and do next to nothing for the victims of discrimination --other =
than crassly exploit the lynching victims that provide such nice photos =
for getting into the wallets of unsuspecting do-gooders.

As for Doug Wilson's co-author, Wilkins,which I guess is what started =
all of this, I don't know a thing about him. But if I were trying to =
build a dossier on the man, I would be looking for more sources than the =
SPLC. =20
