<P>I agree with you that the wording of "under God" is not going away. But, I don't think it matters in any real sense that it does or doesn't. People only say it because it is instinct to do so. I feel that it is a real non-issue in the grand scheme of things. We also say in the pledge that we believe "in justice for all". I don't see people that deny equal rights to women, gays, blacks, atheists, and others saying "hey we don't want to say 'justice for all'." Bottom line is people outside of the classroom don't say it enough, and the kids have no idea what the words indivisible, pledge, allegiance, justice, and liberty mean anyway. Some kids even say "invisible" instead of "indivisible" because they have not reached that level of vocabulary is of an upper grade level. By the time they are old enough to understand what those words mean they have been saying it for so long and it hardly matters to challenge it then. Who it really matters to is the parents of kids. They !
want to teach them about God and to respect God. I think that is a good thing. However, like I was saying before, I agree with you on the issue. I don't think it is going away. Some people will waste their time and energy on keeping it and some on getting rid of it when in fact they should be concentrating on real issues like enforcing "justice for all" and "liberty for all" not arguing over what words to force out of the mouths of children when they don't even understand what they are saying anyway. I think you and me agree on most things 99.9% of the time. : )</P>
