[Vision2020] Affirmative Action

I agree, Ms Chaney. Colin Powell is an extremely pleasing
middle-of-the-road conservative and would definitely garner my vote. If
George W comes out of this resembling something like road kill, maybe
Secretary Powell would be just what the Republican Party needs to go up
against Gephart. I (as a Democrat) would be hard pressed to select between
those two.

Although I agree that Rosemary made some powerful and valid points, I'm not
sure that "Touche'" is the appropriate response to the one about Colin
Powell. It seems to me that he had a legitimate shot at the presidency and
made a conscious decision not to pursue it. Present war strategies aside, I
would have voted for him then, for reasons unrelated to Affirmative Action.

Rosemary Huskey stated:

"Maybe that's why Colin Powell supports affirmative action. In a just,
merit-based world, George W. would be working for him, not vice versa."

Touche'. I agree with you 100%, Ms. Huskey. Secretary Powell has brought
integrity and respect to every office/position he has held.

Take care,
