Tim is Partially correct. But he is mostly incorrect.
He is correct in saying that the University of Idaho provided most the jobs
in this community. He is also correct that Moscow would be like Grangeville
of Potlatch without the University.
However, I think he is incorrect in the assuming that this means the
University can do what ever it wants. Moscow has the obligation of helping
the University, BUT, and this is a big BUT, the University has the
obligation to help the Moscow Community.
I think the members of this Community have bent over backwards to assist the
University. The University has done little but slap us around and expect us
to do whatever they demand.
It should not be using foreign and national dentists, we have GREAT dentists
here. We have great Pharmacies, we have GREAT food services, and GREAT
housing we can build. There is absolutely no reason why the University
should be sending business AWAY from the people and families that have
supported this University for generations, that is called RUDE.
The University has misbehaved more and more over the years doing things to
try and control and destroy the local economy so it can have a monopoly on
everything and make sure everyone submits to the demands of the University
Administration. That is a power grab and an abuse of power.
This reminds of the case where a woman submits to her battering husband as
he places more demands and controls on her and she sits there and takes it
because she says, "well, he puts food on the table for me." Just because a
child or woman may be dependant on an income earner for the family does NOT
give the income earner the right to rape, beat, and do what ever they want
to the dependants. Moscow has battered wife syndrome badly, and I wonder
when it is going to stand up and say "I have rights too". Because ya know,
we do.
Thanks!
