<p class="MsoNormal">I look forward to seeing many of you at our committee meeting in Banff next weekend. You should all have received a link to the committee meeting materials from Chris Richards at ACTEC. (And here is the link so you don’t have to look

<p class="MsoNormal">I want to call two items to your attention. The committee will hold an actual vote at the meeting to approve of comments on proposed regulations that have been drafted by committee members on behalf of ACTEC.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The comments on proposed regulations under section 7520 are now in the committee materials. They are already in the approval process, but still need official approval at the meeting. Larry Katzenstein will talk about them and answer any
questions anyone may have about them.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">There is also a committee headed by Stacey Delich-Gould working on comments on the new proposed regulations under section 2010. The proposed regulations identify “abusive” situations to which the anti-clawback regulations will not apply.
The working group has tentatively tagged these situations with the name Boomerang Clawback (we’ll see if that sticks). Sometime early next week I will add that draft to the meeting materials so that you will have an opportunity to review it before the meeting.
(It might make good airplane reading.) At the meeting, the working group will discuss the draft comments and seek your input. Although those comments will not quite be in final form, we will vote on them as well in Banff.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In addition to the two sets of comments, we’ll have other exciting presentations at the committee meeting on planning for times of increasing interest rates, tax considerations in naming fiduciaries, and the latest grantor trust debate
concerning what happens to grantor trust status when spouses contribute to a trust and then one of them dies. We’ll also get an update on regulatory and legislative developments.<o:p></o:p></p>
