Good morning members of the Estate & Gift Committee.  Are you tired of writing letters to the editor that are ignored?  Sending telegrams to Washington only to receive a stock reply?  Making really great suggestions to your managing partner that are never acted upon?

This, today, September 22, is YOUR lucky day.  And with good reason, after all in 1903 the ice cream cone was patented today.  What better day to solicit your final suggestions and ideas for the Nashville meeting.

That's right, we have lots of fun and interesting items for discussion but I am confident I've missed developments, issues, and controversies that we should discuss.  Please send me a note and tell me.  Heck, if it is interesting enough I will even bump already scheduled speakers, that's just the kind of guy I am.

A word about the meeting location.  We will be meeting in the Omni, the ACTEC hotel.  As some of you know, my ancestral home is only 45 minutes from the Omni, leading to the question, "should we load the committee on buses and meet on the grounds of my ancestral home?"  Alas, the road trip seemed ill advised.  One reason is obvious - a bus trip is not everyone's cup of tea.  More importantly, folks who know  the "grounds of my ancestral home" would say, why do you want to have a meeting in the back yard of that suburban house Turney grew up in?  Good point.  So just walk to the meeting room, boot up your wifi, and you will be ready.

I look forward to seeing you very soon and am hopeful of hearing from you even sooner.  Thanks for all you do to make the Estate & Gift Committee such fun.
